Position Overview
CrossWay Church is seeking a full-time Student Ministries Pastor. This role is for a highly relational leader to help bring about the flourishing of the entire congregation through the encouragement and equipping of students and their families. Our Youth Group includes students in grades 6-12 and has an average weekly attendance of 45 students.
This role includes oversight and recruitment of volunteer staff, planning and execution of midweek programming, monthly/annual events and retreats, intentional engagement with the Fort Dodge community, and active involvement with Reach Students Central District. This person would report to the Senior Pastor.
This leadership role would be the third full-time role at the church. In addition to the full-time Senior Pastor and the full-time Pastor of Worship and Discipleship, the church staff includes a ¾ time administrator and a part time Children’s Director.
CrossWay was formed in Fort Dodge in 1965 as First Evangelical Free Church. The name was changed to CrossWay in 2017. It has approximately 230 regular Sunday morning attendance. It is a theologically-conservative church with a blended worship style and a commitment to expository preaching. The church has a strong heritage of supporting both local and international missions.
Qualifications
Definite call of God for full-time pastoral ministry and committed to the glory of God in all things (1 Cor 10:31), displaying evidence of mature faith, and growing obedience to Jesus Christ in all things.
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a ministry-related field and a preference for a graduate degree (M.Div. or similar).
- Affirmation of the Evangelical Free Church (EFCA) Statement of Faith and agreement with the church’s Philosophy of Ministry statement.
Desired Characteristics
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who loves Jesus passionately and is committed to seeing His name glorified among students and their families. This candidate would be someone who understands that faithfulness in every area of life is the only real standard, while also being a person for whom “good enough isn’t good enough.” This candidate must be a coachable, proactive, self-starter who can work interdependently as part of a team. While youth ministry is the main burden of this leader, youth ministry cannot function as a silo independent of the church at large. Effective youth ministry involves integration of youth into the life of the church. This means that the Student Ministries Pastor must also be fully integrated into the life of the church at large.
